IABC is the premier organization for communication, business, marketing, public relations and journalism students. IABC Minnesota shares a variety of resources and opportunities for students who plan on entering the communication profession. Get insights from leaders in the profession, make valuable contacts, and supplement your academic education with practical training to get your career started. Learn more, including how to join, at IABC’s student information page.

Meet the Pros Events

Our Meet the Pros event is a great way for students to sample the value of an IABC membership. IABC Minnesota members from a variety of industries present as a panel and answer questions from students. Past events have been held at Northwestern College in Roseville, St. Mary’s University in Winona and at the University of Minnesota. Past panels have included professionals from prestigious Minnesota companies such as Best Buy, Target and US Bank, as well as self-employed and non-profit professionals. These events are typically held in the spring and fall at times convenient to students.

A great way to Share. Improve. Succeed. with other business communications professionals.

Internships

Through IABC Minnesota’s internship program, university and college students can gain the professional work experience and knowledge necessary to prepare for a career in communications. Interns can take advantage of IABC’s extensive resources and networking opportunities while working closely with the IABC Minnesota board and the chapter’s volunteers.

Campus Road Shows

Bring IABC Minnesota to your campus. IABC Minnesota members and communication professionals are available to speak to university communications, marketing public relations and journalism classes throughout the state and Western Wisconsin about networking, building community partnerships, mentoring, internships and much more.

Our overall goal is to introduce students to industry professionals currently employed in the Twin Cities and explain the importance of networking early in their careers and how belonging to a professional association can assist with building connections that will lead to employment. Students will have the opportunity to learn about networking, ask questions and gain insight into the industry.
