Knowledge and Strategies to Enrich and Accelerate Your Career

IABC Minnesota offers a variety of professional development programs throughout the year. Topics are selected to help you become a more effective business communicator, keep you up-to-date on the latest communications issues, and provide strategic counsel to Minnesota organizations.

While members enjoy a significant discount, all educational events are open to nonmembers as well. And yes, they double as good networking opportunities for sharing face-to-face!

Professional Development Luncheons

Led by a local communications professional, these programs share useful knowledge over lunch with other communicators. Six or more events are held each year; usually on the third Thursday of the month.

Half-Day Workshops

IABC Minnesota’s half-day workshops are designed to give a deeper perspective on current communications trends and issues. These events offer a variety of formats but typically include a keynote address, interactive session and/or breakout sessions that allow attendees to tailor the content to their personal/professional needs.

In addition to IABC Minnesota’s programs, the association partners with other local organizations. Collaborations include a sold-out 2013 writing workshop with PRSA Minnesota (bringing writing expert Ann Wylie to the Twin Cities for the first time) and an annual partnership with the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN) to present a series of two-hour workshops each fall.

The MCN workshops are targeted toward nonprofit organizations, though the topics are often pertinent to small organizations or those with limited resources. So even if you don’t work for a nonprofit — you’re still encouraged to attend and will receive an IABC member discount.
