That’s right. Minnesota bold. I’ve taken inspiration from the 2018 Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee’s slogan, “the Bold North.” Whether you grew up in Minnesota or have come to call Minnesota your home, we are a bold bunch who embrace our winters (even this mild winter) and are driven to innovate and help others – in our communities and in our careers.

So, what does this have to do with IABC’s member month? For me, it’s a time to reflect on how IABC Minnesota has helped me to be bold.

The greatest value I’ve received as an IABC member is – by far – through my involvement in the local Minnesota chapter. I’ve been able to give back to our community by leading IABC Minnesota’s Gift of Communication event for three years. This event connects local nonprofits that do amazing work with talented local communication professionals. I’m proud to say we’ve helped 20 nonprofits over the last two years, and hope to help 10 more at our 2017 Gift of Communication event on April 18. Interested in volunteering? Register online.

How can IABC Minnesota help you be bold? The answer is, in any way you want:

There are so many ways for you to be bold, at any stage of your communications career.

I have a challenge for you:

If you are already an IABC member, attend at least one in-person IABC Minnesota event within the next two months. See our upcoming events.

If you are considering joining or renewing your membership, do it in March! During member month, your application fee will be waived ($40 saving) and you’ll receive 10% off international dues. Plus, if you join as a new IABC Minnesota member in March, you’ll be entered into a drawing for free entry to IABC Minnesota events for your entire first year of membership (valued at more than $500). Join or renew now at iabc.com/membership.

So go on, be bold. Embrace all that IABC Minnesota has to offer. You’ll be glad you did.
