We, in Minnesota might be in a drought this Spring, but IABC is not. It’s been raining hard in the land of IABC, and things are taking root.

International is preparing to launch a new brand; one that’s a significant departure from the branding we’ve come to know. It’ll be officially launched in July. They also just rolled out a new, easier to navigate web site, and they are about to launch the first of the new certifications through IABC Academy.

April offers a deluge of activities at the local level, too. Jim Lukaszewski is leading our monthly meeting discussion on how to handle crisis communication in the age of social media. On April 15th, students and those new to the profession will have a chance to Meet the Pros. We have a panel of distinguished communication veterans who will talk about their jobs and the path the led them to those jobs. Then, on April 16, the Power Lunch webinar topic will offer tips on how to hack your brain by using neuroscience to improve your communication skills. I saw this presentation at World Conference last summer, and it was fantastic.

The Pacific Plains Regional board will wrap up the month with World Conference presenters Ann Wylie and Shel Holtz. Ann and Shel are teaming up with MN Twins’ Kevin Smith in Minneapolis for a day and half workshop on storytelling, strategic communications, and digital communications. You can attend all or just part of this conference; including the option to attend a Twins’ game.

The IABC MN website has all the details for these events. Soak up at least some of this month’s activities, and you’ll be sure to bloom.
