Purpose: To support the next generation of professional communicators and to build awareness of IABC among students preparing to launch a career in communications.
Scholarship Amount:
One $2,000 scholarship + an IABC student membership
Four additional IABC student memberships to other applicants, valued at $49 each
Application deadline: Midnight on January 1
Scholarship award: March 1
Eligibility: Anyone pursuing an undergraduate degree in communications or a related field from a regionally accredited Minnesota-based public or private college or university. Requires a student-level membership with IABC by the time the scholarship is awarded (included for the scholarship winner). Scholarship recipients will be notified by the IABC Minnesota president on March 1 of a scholarship year.
Criteria: Scholarship will be awarded based on a combination of merit and financial need. Criteria is at the discretion of the IABC Minnesota Board of Directors.
Application: Submit an essay of 2,000 words or less explaining why you need the scholarship and what you plan to do with a degree in communications or related field. Essays should be submitted to info@iabcmn.com. Essay should also include full name, address, phone number, email address and university you’re attending. Two letters of recommendation from student’s faculty or community/business leaders are also required.
Scholarship is available through the IABC Minnesota web site, IABC social media outlets, and through outreach to accredited Minnesota public or private colleges or universities with communications programs.
Selection: Scholarship recipient will be chosen by the IABC Minnesota Board of Directors. Recipient is responsible for any adjustments or notifications to financial aid package or other grants upon award.
